Michelle Lambert is the Founding Principal of Lambert Sustainability. For the last 22 years, she has built an expertise in sustainable design in both practice and teaching. With an education and experience in architecture and planning, she led the sustainability efforts at several of Boston’s largest architecture and design firms prior to starting her own firm. Michelle has worked on over 45 LEED and sustainable design projects varying widely in building type, rating system and certification level.
CREDENTIALS
Michelle became one of the very first LEED Accredited Professionals (AP) in 2002. For the past 20 years she has maintained that credential while establishing significant LEED project expertise. She has worked on over 45 LEED projects to date.
She is also a Certified Passive House Consultant (CPHC) with PHIUS and is well-versed to advise projects on the details, strategies and requirements to achieve Passive House Certification and significant energy savings on projects.
Michelle is a certified Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) through the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI). She has the expertise to lead project teams through the Envision design, construction and documentation processes. She is also a certified Envision Verifier, providing third-party reviews of Envision project submissions for ISI. In addition, she is an Envision Training Provider, approved to deliver ISI Envision training education sessions.
Teaching
Michelle gives numerous guest lectures and professional presentations every year on a range of sustainability topics. She has taught numerous green building, LEED exam prep and project management courses, and Envision trainings to professionals in the design and construction industry.
In academia, she created and taught one of the very first university classes offered on the subject of LEED at Carnegie Mellon University in 2003. Michelle is currently an adjunct faculty member in the Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning graduate program at Tufts University. She has taught previously at the Boston Architectural College in the Sustainable Design Certificate program and in the Architecture degree program.
As both a professional and academic educator, a former US Green Building Council Faculty Member and an Envision trainer, she brings a unique ability to communicate the concepts and strategies contained within LEED, Passive House and other sustainability systems in order to provide ongoing education to her project teams, ensuring a more integrated and efficient process.
Education
She received her Masters in Urban Planning and Environmental Policy from Tufts University and her Bachelor of Architecture from Carnegie Mellon University.

Michelle loves traveling and exploring our beautiful planet. Her passions include photography, yoga, cycling, and educating around climate activism.
